End-run around Lyman? Cox, Curtis, Brown call for Davis County Clerk signature audit
August 19, 2024
In what could appear to be an end-run around Rep. Phil Lyman’s demands regarding signatures gathered by gubernatorial opponent Gov. Spencer Cox, three candidates are calling for a legislative audit of Davis County Clerk’s Office.
Cox, along with U.S. Senate candidate John Curtis and Utah Attorney General candidate Derek Brown, released a statement this evening calling for the audit of the office’s electoral signature-gathering process. The Davis County Clerk’s Office was responsible for verifying Cox’s signatures to get on the June 25 primary ballot. The Utah lieutenant governor’s office has outsourced the verifying of signatures to the Davis County Clerk’s office for the last five years.
